I really enjoyed this performance "one drum" because of the energy and the way it immediately grabbed my attention. The loud beats on the drum and the movement of the drummers holding the drum for each other really brought harmony and more excitement to the performance. i feel that the drum really enhanced this demonstration into a performance piece because the drum is an instrumental device that works just as well to connect with the audience and the performers as a person. I watched, listened, and felt the rhythm and loud banging beats pulsating throughout my body in the small studio. i also really enjoyed that they only were using one drum because it felt more intimate between the two drummers, it was like i was watching a game or a ritual. Overall i thought it was a very intriguing performance and i loved the energy.
This was a very intense performance to watch, it really woke me up. Some of the performances caused me to lose interest within a few minutes which this didn't. This "one Drum" gave me a new perspective on how to play a drum; considering not many people pick up a drum to play it. The way they moved throughout the work really gave a tribal feel to the performance. The other interesting aspect to this piece was that they used a powerful beat, as they traveled throughout the piece it changed according to the movements. They really knew how to get the audience interested in what they were doing; instead of easily standing there and playing the drum. This piece as a whole was very strong and upheld my attention throughout which I feel is an important part in performing.
Overall there were a few performances that i found captivated performances. i love that they picked something energizing. i though that aspect alone added to there piece. they didnt allow you to get bored or fall asleep they kept you awake with noise and volume. in some ways i wish it was longer and they had gone crazy so that way more energy would have been felt. i felt as though i was watching a small piece of "drum line". the fact that both performers knew what they were doing helped, i know that if i went and did the same thing it would not have been as affective. they had a constant rythm that you could tap your foot too which is what i enjoyed the most.
